Bone Builders

Build Strength. Improve Balance. Protect Your Bones.
It's never too late to become stronger.

Carroll County RSVP's Bone Builders program is a free, community-based exercise and education program designed to help adults age 60 and older improve strength, balance, and bone health. Through safe, low-impact strength training and osteoporosis education, participants gain the tools and confidence to stay active, independent, and healthy.

Whether you're looking to prevent osteoporosis, reduce your risk of falls, or simply become stronger, Bone Builders offers a welcoming environment where everyone progresses at their own pace.

What is Bone Builders?
Bone Builders is an evidence-informed osteoporosis prevention program for older women and men. As we age, our bones naturally become thinner and weaker, increasing the risk of fractures. In fact, one in two women over age 50 and one in five men will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture.

Our program combines:
  • Gentle strength training using hand and ankle weights
  • Balance exercises to help reduce the risk of falls
  • Education on osteoporosis prevention, nutrition, and healthy aging
  • Encouragement and support from trained volunteer leaders

Classes are designed to be safe, enjoyable, and accessible to people of varying fitness levels.

What to Expect
Each one-hour class meets twice a week and is led by RSVP-trained volunteer instructors.

Participants begin with light weights and gradually increase resistance as their strength improves. There is no high-impact activity, jumping, or intimidating gym atmosphere—just practical exercises designed to build stronger muscles and bones.

Best of all, classes are fun! Participants enjoy exercising together, sharing information, encouraging one another, and building lasting friendships.
