Bone Builders
The RSVP Bone Builders Program relies upon weight training and balance exercises to protect against fractures caused by osteoporosis by increasing muscular strength, balance and bone density. Participants reported increased strength, better balance, more energy and feelings of well-being. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends engaging in both weight-bearing exercise (like walking, climbing stairs, dancing and yard work) and muscle-strengthening exercise to build and maintain bone density. It’s never too late to start a bone-healthy program even if you already have osteoporosis. Participants can join any of our on-going FREE classes at any time or join with others to initiate a new class. Interested individuals must first obtain clearance from their physician prior to enrollment in our program. Carroll County RSVP will help provide volunteer trainers, locate a donated site and supply the required weights at no cost to our participants!
