Carroll County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is now part of AmeriCorps Seniors!

Who we are and what we do!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a free program through AmeriCorps Seniors. It is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation and strives to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for adults 55 and older, while meeting local needs and responding to priorities of national significance. The North Conway Community Center is the fiscal agent for Carroll County RSVP.

Service opportunities are as diverse as the communities in which volunteers serve and may include:
  • Providing non-emergency medical transportation to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and veterans
  • Delivering food to elders in their homes
  • Setting up, serving, and cleaning up at congregate meal sites
  • Picking up and sorting donations, stocking shelves, rotating food items and packaging food and other items for pickup at food pantries.
  • Providing helping hands and caring words to patients and family members throughout the local hospital and nursing home
  • Confronting the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school Friday and the free breakfast they receive in school Monday
  • Checking books out to patrons, shelving returned books, entering information from new patrons into a database, tidying a children’s area periodically, working a help desk at a library
  • Tutoring and mentoring disadvantaged or disabled youth
  • Making quilts for patients at nursing homes and newborns

These are merely a few examples of the valuable community service that is provided by over 400 volunteers throughout Carroll County.

In order to continue its efforts, RSVP is always searching for the time, services, and talents of local volunteers. If you live in Carroll County or surrounding area give RSVP a call and see how you can make a difference...one person at a time.
