Non-Emergency Medical Transportation
Transportation to medical appointments can be difficult to find, especially if the appointment requires a friend or family member to pick you up after the procedure. With transportation becoming an increasingly prevalent issue for seniors, adults with disabilities, and veterans, RSVP of Carroll County has a program in place to provide volunteer drivers and escorts to medical appointments.
What is Medical Mobility?
Medical Mobility is a transportation program within RSVP of Carroll County that provides rides to medical doctor’s appointments for ambulatory seniors, adults with disabilities and veterans. The program allows for travel beyond county lines, which is frequently necessary for accessing specialized services. It also allows clients to stay secure, comfortable, independent and living in their homes for as long as possible.
How does it work?
Volunteer drivers receive DMV and criminal background checks prior to transporting client. They use their own cars to transport the clients to their appointments and can wait for the duration of procedure before taking them home. The service is offered throughout Carroll County. Rides can be scheduled on weekdays from 9:00am-4pm with the RSVP Transportation Coordinator, and at least a 48-hour notice is requested, but rides cannot be guaranteed as they depend on the availability of the volunteer drivers. Medical transportation service is provided at “No Cost” to the client, however, donations are welcomed.
