2018 Valley Ms Pageant- Sunday, March 11, 2018
Conway Daily Sun - Tuesday, March 13, 2018

Nearly $7,500 was raised for local non-profits by the 12 women who competed in the 2018 Mount Washington Valley Ms. Pageant on Sunday. Presented by Mount Washington Valley Promotions, the collaborative fundraising event was hosted by M&D Playhouse in North Conway. Each woman was scored in Interview, Runway and Public Speaking by a panel of judges. In addition, each was asked to collect funds for her chosen non-profit, those figures also factoring into the final score. MacKenzie Herlihy, representing the MWV Teen Scholarship Program, was crowned 2018 Valley Ms. and received a check for $500 for the scholarship fund in addition to the funds she raised in her cash can. June Waltz, representing Carroll County RSVP, was the runner-up. The top fundraiser was Vanessa Jones, who represented the Bartlett Recreation Department.

Bone Builders Programs

The RSVP Bone Builders Osteoporosis Prevention and Reversal Program is an effective combination of weight bearing, balance and stretching exercises, with nutritional information, and support for all stages of osteoporosis. Originally developed from the Strong Living Program of Tufts University, Bone Builders is a free, ongoing program open to all those with concerns about osteoporosis.

When followed diligently, the Bone Builders program and exercises can help the body to increase bone density and reverse the effects of osteoporosis.

Classes meet twice weekly and include standing and sitting exercises, using hand weights and ankle weights for resistance training. Class leaders receive special training. Medical clearance is required. Participants are asked to wear loose fitting slacks and shirts, and appropriate shoes (tennis shoes are good), and to bring a bottle of water and a towel.
